Safely Home
Child Care Workers from Top to Bottom
Walking into the doors of Safely Home, Inc. is a warm and welcoming experience, exactly as it is meant to be for the boys who enter this Bedford, Ohio organization. A lot of unique qualities to this residential center are immediately striking to visitors, from the Sponge Bob sheets on the beds to the lack of a door on the CEO’s office. “My no-door policy”, says George Purgert.
Beyond the obvious is an interesting philosophy to serving the children in their care. All employees of safely home are trained child care workers. The facility’s cook who is charged with making delicious and nutritious meals in the kitchen is trained as a child care worker. The maintenance man who was working on a remodeling project at the time of this visit is trained as a child care worker. “All of these people have contact with the children in our care,” explains Purgert, “and we ensure that we are all on the same page”.
